Birch Restorations was able to work onsite to remove the white heat marks on this Mahogany dining table. Using a mixture of white spirit, vinegar and camphorated oil which is rubbed into the damaged surface. The solution was able to lift out the white heat marks causing minor scuffing to the existing finish. This allows the oil to penetrate to the surface aiding in the removal of the marks. Birch Restorations then rubbed the whole polished table surface with dry steel wool and then refinished with a wax rub to return the original shine to the surface.
To restore a piece of furniture (furniture repairs) you need the skills of the original furniture maker. You need to know the character of the materials used to make it. You need to be able to graft in new materials where the old have deteriorated beyond repair.
Antique dealers have let the Birch Restorations team pull antiques apart (and put them back together) for years.
Birch Restorations have mastered the techniques, styles and materials of each period. They will match the character, colour and patina of the original timbers from their stores of old wood and match details for authenticity
