Coffee Table Restoration
Indian coffee table made from Elm and Teak with decorative brass and iron work. This table had been left out in the weather causing the iron work to rust, the brass to tarnish and the timber work to split, bleach and even rot in places.
Birch Restorations started the full restoration by first washing all timber surfaces with deck cleaner, thereby removing the bleach and water stains. Birch then used wire brushes to remove surface rust and green tarnishing from the metal work. Birch Restorations then cut out the rotted timber and patched with aged Elm & Teak. Extra bleaching was needed to remove the very bad rust stains from some timber work.
We then glued up the split timbers and gave the metal a fine buff & polish to high light the contrast between the brass, steel and wood work. Birch Restorations hand rubbed a Danish Oil finish on all Elm & Teak surfaces conserving the natural beauty of the timber.
